LENDLEASE X TYLAH SAUNDERS
As part of the stage one launch of Victoria Cross, Lendlease has partnered with Gunditjmara artist Tylah Saunders to create a unique contemporary artwork that embodies the spirit of connection and community.
This piece was commissioned specifically for a temporary activation in partnership with Two Good Cafe and reflects the deep cultural roots and personal journey of an Indigenous artist while celebrating the joy of reconnection—a theme that resonates deeply with the purpose of this vibrant new urban precinct.
ART + CULTURE + COLLABORATION
Lendlease are proud to collaborate with Gunditjmara artist Tylah Saunders, whose vibrant artwork has transformed the Vic X precinct. Saunders’ work breathes life into a newly created public seating area and a purpose-driven coffee cart operated by Two Good Co., a social enterprise dedicated to making a positive social impact. This activation, part of the stage one launch at Victoria Cross, not only offers visitors a place to relax but also invites them to engage with and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Gunditjmara people.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tylah Saunders, from Southwest Victoria, views his art as a personal expression of identity and culture. Initially a private pursuit, his work now brings him joy as he shares it with others, offering a sense of pride and connection to his heritage. For his piece at Victoria Cross, Tylah focused on the theme of reconnection, celebrating the simple joy of reconnecting with cherished people and places. Through his art, he aims to foster a deeper connection to culture and community.
In discussing his inspiration for the piece, Tylah says...
"I wanted to create a piece that speaks to the simple joy of reconnection. The beauty and joy of reconnecting with people and places that we hold dear is such a special thing—to me, it’s one of the simplest expressions of love, and in one form or another, it’s at the core of each and every one of us."
